Happy Mother's Day, with a twist! This post is a little late, but so worth talking about! This past Mother's Day, we celebrated with our moms group at Paint and Party in Allentown. Owner Deann took super care of us! This was my very first time ever at a painting event, and it was so much fun! We brought snacks and adult beverages to share and had a wonderful evening painting and chatting away!
I highly recommend checking out Paint and Party for your next get together with friends or even as a date night! Paint and Party is located at 1901 W Allen Street in Allentown, and they can be reached at 610-515-4314.

Soothing relief, naturally! If you have bottom or vaginal pain or bruising after birth (or even hemmorrhoids), a soothing sitz bath can help tremendously. Sitz baths submerge the entire bottom into a warm, herbal liquid that heals and soothes. This can be done right in the bathtub, with a bowl suspended in your toilet, on a portable commode or even via a cotton compress. Some ingredients you may find helpful, are:
Choose your herbs in 1/4 cup increments, to equal about two cups total. Steep (like you're making tea) with hot water, strain, and add to your portable sitz container or your bathrub (add water to cover your bottom). Finally, add 1/2 cup of sea or Epsom salts to the mixture.
Many of these herbs are available at your local health food stores, online at specialty shops, and of course Frontier and Amazon. A Natural Hospital BirthA fast and furious birth as told in pictures. Hannah Grace joined her parents and proud big brother at home in the Lehigh Valley.
Holiday Magic at The Gin Mill & GrilleThis years MBN Moms Holiday Party was held at The Gin Mill & Grille in Northampton. The venue was perfect and the owner was very accommodating to our needs. We had some amazing Business Sponsors this year, without them this event would not have been possible! Each family who registered for the party received a Holiday Gift Bag filled with goodies from the Sponsors AND received raffle tickets if they brought pajama donations for Concern for Kids of PA. In no particular order, I'd like to thank thank the following people or businesses for their contributions:
We raised about $150 for Concern via raffle ticket sales and donated a TON of new and gently used pajamas to for their needs. From my family to yours, Happy New Year and may 2017 be another fantastic year for all. -Kiera October is Domestic Violence Awareness MonthLast weekend, I had the honor of working alongside Purple Salon & Spa owner, Ashley Riehl, on a fundraiser for domestic violence - Cuts, Cocktails, and Cupcakes for a Cause! Ashley, her mother Heidi Markow, and stylist Jennifer Muntean took appointments all afternoon doing haircuts, purple extensions, and waxing services. We set up a Kids Zone upstairs with Halloween-inspired crafts and also did manicures with natural nail polish. Vendors on site sold hot dogs, cupcakes, clothing, baby products, childrens books, and provided services such as chair massages and henna. Proceeds benefitted the Beginning Over Foundation - a local charity started by Ashley's own mother in response to her sisters death in 2005 from domestic violence. The fundraiser was a huge success and we never could have accomplished it all without the support from the following businesses and friends/family, in no particular order: Purple Salon & Spa Motherbaby Naturals Ocean 235 TheMint Gastropub Ana McCaw Weathers LulaRoe Jackie Jarek Usbourne Books Revitalize With Rebekah Jessica Fenon Jessica Fenon Photography Sugar Babe Cupcakes Shannon Mcgloughlin Travelers Song Henna Frankenstitches Louisa Stull Toni Riehl Gina Gullo Jennifer Muntean Heidi Markow Lauren Stecker Iggy Markow Shelley Brown Fairlee Godshall, in remembrance of Kimberlee Terri Stenger Kayla Kravitz Carla Border Jillian Bickel & Family Tara Pritchard ...... and everyone who came out to purchase products and services! I often hear from women who would have really liked a doula at the birth, but her significant other felt like they'd be feeling "left out". It's quite the opposite, really! I am mindful that often times, a birth partner has never witnessed a birth before, or doesn't know what to expect. They might even feel that a "stranger" at their birth would be difficult to get used to. That's where my education and experience comes in to play. With a doula involved in your pregnancy, delivery and postpartum stages, your family will feel supported and empowered. Prior to your birth, we spend extra time "getting to know" each another via email, phone, text, and our prenatal visits (where we go over childbirth education, your birth preferences, etc). Doulas do not replace the support and love from your spouse or partner - they are simply an additional member to your "well-rounded" birth team that will enhance your overall experience. If you are interested in learning more about doula services that I offer, please send me an email at [email protected]. An Amazing Organ |
