Therapeutic Massage for Pregnancy

Picture

Structural Joint Balancing can help alleviate some of the discomforts associated with pregnancy. By keeping the body balanced and functional it is able to handle the ongoing changes easier and more efficiently. Voila is an assessment and balancing technique that works with the cranial and keystone bones of the body. While traditional massage may feel great it doesn’t get to the underlying issue.
Some reported benefits of SJB during and after pregnancy are:
  • Less overall body tension
  • Decrease in neck, pain and hip pain
  • Relief from pain in the tailbone and SI joints
  • Increased energy
  • Elimination of urine leakage when sneezing, coughing or exercising

Kinesiotaping for Pregnancy

Kinesiotaping is a safe and effective way to help distribute the weight of a pregnant belly and ease tension all over. If is easily applied to the skin and can be worn for multiple days. It is inexpensive, fits underclothes easily and can be found at your local pharmacy.
Reported benefits of kinesio taping while pregnant:
  • Less back pain
  • Improved posture
  • Less pressure under the belly and into the hips
  • Improved sleep

Doulas and Your Birth Partner

We Don't Replace Them!

The support I offer to you does not replace that of your birth partner - I am present for the whole family.
I often hear from women who would have really liked a doula at the birth, but her significant other felt like they'd be feeling "left out".
It's quite the opposite, really!
I am mindful that often times, a birth partner has never witnessed a birth before, or doesn't know what to expect. They might even feel that a "stranger" at their birth would be difficult to get used to.
That's where my education and experience comes in to play. With a doula involved in your pregnancy, delivery and postpartum stages, your family will feel supported and empowered. Prior to your birth, we spend extra time "getting to know" each another via email, phone, text, and our prenatal visits (where we go over childbirth education, your birth preferences, etc).
Doulas do not replace the support and love from your spouse or partner - they are simply an additional member to your "well-rounded" birth team that will enhance your overall experience.

If you are interested in learning more about doula services that I offer, please send me an email at info@lehighvalleydoula.com.
